Introduction
In this unit/section you will develop a website that promotes your new game. Before you can do that you will need to learn about HTML and how websites work. The website will need:
- A homepage with persuasive words and exciting images encouraging people to play the game.
- A user manual explaining how the game works and how to play it.
- A contact the developer page in case people want to get in touch to say thanks, report bugs or ask for new features.
- A link to a HTML version of your game (exported from Greenfoot).
Websites and HTML
In this lesson
- Everyone will explore HTML and edit a basic webpage (Level 4).
- Most will understand the basic terminology (Level 5).
- Some will be able to explain what it means and write their own HTML (Level 6).
Planning
In this lesson
- Everyone will create storyboard for their website
- Most will be able to explain the difference between coding and WYSIWYG.
- Some will be able to describe the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
Homepage
In this lesson
- Everyone will set up a site in WebPlus and create their homepage.
- Most will add text and images.
- Some will add a navigation bar and some links.
Images
In this lesson
- Everyone will learn about making appropriate image choices and formatting images for the web
- Most will understand what a Cinemagraph is and create a GIFSoup for their webpage.

In this lesson
- Everyone will continue to develop their websites
- Most will understand how they can embed different media into their webpages
- Some will create interactive forms.
Top Tips for Website
In this lesson you will look at top tips for website design and think about how they apply to you. You will then continue to work on your website.
Peer Review
In this lesson you will review another website in return for some feedback on yours. You will then act on this feedback to improve your website.
Going Live
In this lesson
- Everyone will finish working on their website and upload it to Joggle as a published zip file.
- Most will explore some ‘neat’ websites and be able to explain why they picked them and what makes them stand out.
- Some will be able to discuss their chosen website’s fitness of purpose.
